Body-style
hearing aids are used primarily for three reasons:
- First,
if a person has a very severe-to-profound degree of hearing
loss, it may be the only instrument they can wear that will
give them the high output needed to stay connected to the
world.
- Second,
many hearing aid users have dexterity problems. There is
nothing easier to operate than a Body Aid. It has large
controls, large switches, the unit itself is larger, and
easier to handle for people with dexterity problems.
- The
third reason can be financial. All our Body aids use AA
batteries making Body hearing aids very inexpensive to operate.
The
hearing aid itself is worn in a shirt pocket and has a cord
leading up to the ear. There is a part called the Receiver
(speaker) that is at the other end of that cord, which is
worn in the ear along with an earmold. This provides a much
greater distance between the Receiver and Microphone, which
means the volume produced by the Receiver can be turned up
much higher before the sound reaches back to the Microphone
pickup of the Body Aid.
